Analog Soul. Digital Freedom.

One Synthesizer. Endless Possibilities.

Some synthesizers are instruments you play. Others invite you to explore, experiment, and push beyond the familiar. To shape sounds you never knew you were looking for.

THEJONES ONE is my own virtual analog software synthesizer, born from a lifelong passion for electronic music, analog sound, and the creative freedom of sound design.

It’s not about adding another synthesizer to an already crowded market. It’s about creating an instrument that combines sonic character, expressive control, and an intuitive workflow.

A synthesizer that doesn’t just sound right. It has to feel right.

Inspired by Legends. Designed for What Comes Next.

THEJONES ONE draws inspiration from some remarkable instruments, particularly the Moog Subsequent 37.

Two different approaches to synthesis, sharing something essential: character, depth, and the ability to transform sound into something alive.

Think deep, warm basslines. Aggressive, driven oscillators. Hypnotic sequences. Evolving textures. Expressive modulation. And those dramatic, sweeping pitch movements that can turn a simple melodic phrase into something almost cinematic.

Artists like Stephan Bodzin demonstrate just how powerful a synthesizer becomes when sound design and live performance merge into one continuous creative process.

That sense of expression is a major influence behind THEJONES ONE.

Not to recreate an existing instrument, but to take that philosophy further and build something with its own identity.

Sound in Motion.

Sound shouldn’t have to remain static.

One of the central ideas behind THEJONES ONE is that movement should become an integral part of synthesis, rather than simply an effect added afterwards.

Alongside traditional oscillators, filters, envelopes, and modulation, I’m developing concepts that explore how sound can evolve organically over time.

One of those concepts is the Dual Motion Engine, designed to introduce two independent dimensions of movement:

  • Sound Motion — evolving modulation that shapes the character, texture, and behaviour of a sound.
  • Performance Motion — expressive movement that responds to how the instrument is played and controlled.

The aim is to make complex sonic movement feel natural, musical, and immediately accessible.

I’m also exploring a dedicated Rotary/Orbit Engine, combining classic rotating-speaker inspiration with modern stereo movement and psychoacoustic spatial effects.

These are part of the longer-term development vision, not features I’m claiming are already finished.

Analog Character. Modern Possibilities.

At its foundation, THEJONES ONE is being developed as a virtual analog synthesizer with two oscillators, flexible waveform shaping, modulation, filtering, and expressive performance controls.

But the ambition extends beyond recreating familiar analog architecture.

I want the warmth, imperfections, and physicality associated with classic synthesizers, combined with the precision and flexibility of modern digital audio.

A sound engine that can move effortlessly between subtle analog warmth and aggressive electronic textures.

From minimal techno to melodic techno. From deep, evolving atmospheres to powerful basslines and cutting leads.

Built for producers. Designed for performers. Made for experimentation.

A Visual Connection to Sound.

A synthesizer’s interface should be more than a collection of knobs and numbers.

I want THEJONES ONE to make sound visible.

Oscillator activity, modulation, envelopes, filters, and movement should all have clear, responsive visual feedback.

Inspired by the immediacy of classic analog hardware and the sophisticated visualisation found in modern instruments, the interface is being designed around a simple principle:

See what you hear. Understand what you change.

The visual identity follows the same philosophy: dark, understated, functional, and deliberately minimal, with subtle orange accents.

No unnecessary decoration. Just the controls, information, and feedback that matter.

An Independent Project. Built from the Ground Up.

THEJONES ONE is an independent synthesizer development project created by me, Lesley Jones, under my DJ and producer identity.

The instrument is being developed using the JUCE framework, initially as a VST3 plugin for macOS, with Ableton Live serving as my primary development and testing environment.

It’s a project that brings together two things I love: making electronic music and exploring the technology behind it.

Development is taking place in stages, with a strong emphasis on sound quality, stability, performance, and careful testing.

Some features are already functional. Others are still being designed, researched, or developed.

And that’s precisely what makes this project interesting.

THEJONES ONE isn’t a finished commercial product dressed up in marketing language. It’s an instrument taking shape, one oscillator, one modulation route, and one idea at a time.

The Journey Has Just Begun.

My goal is straightforward, even if achieving it isn’t:

To build the kind of synthesizer I would genuinely want to use in my own productions and live performances.

Something that invites experimentation. Something expressive enough to become part of the performance itself. Something with a recognisable sonic personality.

I’m not interested in creating another plugin with hundreds of features simply because they can be added.

I want every feature to have a purpose.

Less distraction. More expression. More music.

THEJONES ONE is currently in active development. I’ll be sharing progress, design decisions, sound experiments, and development milestones as the project evolves.
